Common questions
Questions from schools & organizers.
Pricing, verification, family onboarding, dismissal management, and everything else administrators ask before getting started.
Are we liable for the carpools families arrange?
No. Carpool.School is a connection platform, not a transportation provider or carpool arranger. Families find each other through the app and decide independently whether and how to coordinate rides. Your organization does not assign drivers, select carpool partners, or manage individual carpool arrangements. Carpools form entirely through voluntary agreement between families. Your role is setting the community boundaries: who belongs and who has access. That is where your organization's involvement ends. Full details are in our
Terms of Service and your community agreement.
How do our families join the platform?
Verified communities are roster-based. You provide your parent roster, and we send each family a personal invite link. The link is unique per family and ties their signup to the official roster, which is how the community earns its Verified badge.
What does Verified mean?
Verified communities are claimed by the school, daycare, team, camp, or other organization. Families are verified against the organization's official roster before joining, and the organization can manage membership directly.
Can we import data from our Student Information System (SIS)?
Yes. You can bring in a roster exported from your SIS - we just need each parent's email, and phone number optionally for extra security. Parents provide the rest themselves during sign-up.
Can we try the service before subscribing?
Yes. You can claim and verify your community for free - invite families, get them onboarded, and gauge interest with no financial commitment. A subscription is only required after 30 days if you choose to continue.
Who pays - the school or families?
Subscription fees are billed to a single partner organization - typically the school, district, or K-12 organization managing the community. We never bill individual families.
What does it cost a school to participate?
$400 / year for a Verified Community - and that includes onboarding from your roster, a launch kit, and ongoing support. Families inside the community always use the app for free. The first 30 days are free, so you can try it before any commitment.
Is dismissal management included by default?
No - it's an optional add-on. Carpool coordination, messaging, and family ride-finding are available from day one. Dismissal management can be enabled separately whenever you're ready.
Can carpool and dismissal be enabled or disabled independently?
Yes. You can run carpool-only, dismissal-only, or both, and switch at any time. Most schools start with carpooling and add dismissal later.
Is there a limit on family registration?
No. All plans include unlimited parent users - there is no cap on how many families can join your community.
How do I track carpool adoption and dismissal performance?
You can track carpool adoption rates, family engagement, and geographic heat maps. If dismissal management is enabled, you also get real-time pickup confirmation rates, driver arrival times, and exportable audit reports.
Can we customize the platform to fit our school?
Yes. You can configure start and end times, run multiple schedules for different grade levels, define bell times and activities, adjust schedules anytime, and brand the app with your school or organization logo.
What resources do you provide to help us launch?
A complete communication toolkit with customizable templates for every phase - initial announcements, social media posts, sign-up instructions, and ongoing reminders. Templates can be branded with your school or organization's logo.
Where can our school get direct support?
Most things can be self-served from your admin portal. For more help:
